Hospital Cash PlanSolution: You need a Hospital Cash Plan to pay for the many additional expenses incurred when you are hospitalized. The benefits from a Hospital Cash plan can be spent any way you wish but listed below are some examples of where the cash may be needed:

  • Convalescent Home Nursing Costs
  • Housekeeping Costs
  • Travel Costs to and from the hospital
  • Telephone Charges both in and out of the hospital
  • T.V. Rental
  • Preferred Accommodation in the hospital in a semi-private or private room
  • Regular Bills and Expenses

Benefits for a Hospital Cash Plan are the following:

  • Hospital Confinement Benefits in Canada - starts paying with first day of confinement for accident and sickness up to 365 days for any one stay.
  • 50% additional cash for hospital confinement in Canada for cancer or a heart attack. If 65 or older when hospital confinement begins, this benefit has a maximum period of 60 days.
  • Home Recuperation Income - Extra Cash! Following a Hospital stay of at least one (1) day or longer this plan pays up to a maximum of three (3) times the number of days that the Insured was hospitalized.(Example: Hospital stay equals 10 days x 3 = up to 30 days home recuperation paid!) Plan pays up to a maximum of $100. per day.
  • Hospital confinement outside of Canada! You can expect to receive extra expense cash if confined as the result of an emergency in the United States, Great Britain, Ireland, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand. A maximum of sixty (60) days payable for any one sickness or accident.

Features of Hospital Cash Plan

  • Covers accident and sickness. Benefits can never be reduced in any way due to a future deterioration of your health!
  • Benefits are paid in addition to any other coverage that you may have. Cash is direct to you!
  • Premiums are based on your attained age at enrolment in the plan and will never increase due to age. This policy cannot be cancelled during your lifetime or premiums increased or changed unless similar action is taken on all policies with the same plan number in the province of issue!
  • Policies are guaranteed renewable!
  • All pre-existing conditions are covered after the plan has been in force for twelve (12) consecutive months.
  • To qualify you need to be a citizen or resident of Canada and the age of 18 plus.
  • No age limits!

If an individual is covered under more than one (1) of these policies, the maximum Basic Daily Benefit may not exceed $100. per day. Premiums paid for the coverage above the amount will be refunded on request.
